Journey 7
Journey of Balance
Balancing life reminds me of those “It” girls on TikTok that I am incredibly jealous of. Honestly I tend to live vicariously through TikTok influencers.
Although they do help with putting my life together and kind of inspire me to be a “Clean girl” you know what I’m talking about.
But balancing life is like balancing a meal, full of colour and proportionate elements.
Say you have a full job or are in full time education balancing love life, family life, social life, it is a lot.
So what is balance?
I am a Libra so I am meant to empower balance, peace and harmony and I think that is so accurate because I would say I am rather good at balancing friendships, work, gym and a love life.
Balance is a situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. You don’t want one element of your life steering the ship. You should still be able to feel motivated, grounded and not over-whelmed.
How to find your balance?
Finding your balance is key to stop yourself feeling overwhelmed. You need to figure out your internal and external elements. For example internal elements would include self care, self reflection, hygiene etc. And external would be social activities. Once you look at your elements from an outsiders point of view, you’ll be able to see where you balance is off.
Getting your life aligned
1). Eat nourishing food!
Having a balanced diet will help with many internal and external elements. It can help with skincare and according to the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, a balanced diet high in fruits and vegetables, lean protein, low-fat dairy and whole grains is needed for optimal energy. Personally, I love a protein fruit smoothie, I include almond milk, frozen strawberries and bananas, banana whey protein and chocolate slim fast powder, BANGING!
2). Journalling
Having a place to write down your thoughts works like a charm. If you get your thoughts out and look at them from the outside you can almost act as your own therapist as you can see where your thoughts trail off. I also find that they’re just so cute like you can put pictures in them, decorate them, make them your own. I used to journal in secondary school when I didn’t realise I had anxiety and it lead to me realising what was going on.
3). Reading
I have said 1000 times how much I used to hate reading. I found it so boring. But you just have to give it time and find a genre that interests you the most. Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with a thriller. I have 5 amazing book recommendations on my Wellness Page for you to check out!
4). Exercise
Again, I used to hate exercise. Like PE in school, cross-country, hated it. But same applies, you just need to find exercise that you enjoy. Whether it be walking, or yoga, pilates, gym sessions, fitness classes. I find exercise is more enjoyable when you’re with a friend, discovering new exercises, trying them out together, hitting PRs together. Completing exercise will give you that opportunity to work on your internal elements such as self-love.
These are the things that I do that make me feel accomplished. I don’t really set myself goals but they are great for wanting to feel balanced.
